Electrodes for Electrotherapy

Electrotherapy is a widely known pain management or rehabilitation process that works by stimulating nerves with electrical sensations. Electrodes play a vital role in therapeutic modalities, therefore PhysioParts offers them for most types of skin and most forms of electrotherapy. For frequent usage, PhysioParts provides adhesive electrodes from Chattanooga. The electrodes can be used for the Intelect Advanced, Intelect Mobile and Cefar Tens products. In addition to the adhesive electrodes, there are also rubber electrodes where a sponge is used as a conductor. Moreover, at PhysioParts some electrodes are available to use for the iontophoresis products.

DuraStick Electrodes

The DuraStick electrodes are available in three variations. The most basic ones - DuraStick is water-resistant and allow you to use it for a total of 20 to 30 times. Its durability decreases when electrodes are used during showering or taking a bath. A more luxurious version is DuraStick Plus. This variation has an extra layer of foam to make it feel more pleasurable on the skin. DuraStick Plus can last from 30 to 40 times. The third and the highest quality variation of electrodes is DuraStick Premium. This variation is suitable for application on extra sensitive skin, although electrodes are malleable, and this function makes them proper for irregular body contours. These electrodes can also be used up to 40 times and are suitable for usage underwater, although their lifespan deteriorates when used in combination with water.

How Iontophoresis Electrodes Working principle and Advantages

Iontophoresis is an effective and painless way to administer medicine into a tissue. Using an electrical current, a dissolved drug can be administered through the skin. Similar currents repel each other. It causes positively charged molecules to be driven away from the electrodes (into the body) by a positive current. Conversely, a negative current sends negatively charged molecules into the tissue. The use of iontophoresis has many advantages. Firstly, the treatment is non-invasive. Besides, the process is fast and painless, which is very pleasant for the patient. There is also no risk of infection, and it is possible to obtain continuous results.
