Pulmolife COPD screening monitor
Details
The PulmoLife is a COPD monitor designed for quick and easy screening of adult smokers in order to detect COPD.
This small, innovative device measures FEV1, which is taken as a measurement for detecting COPD.
The result of a breathalyzation is shown together with a predicted standard value on a display. These results are used to determine the remaining lung function time of the patient. This value can help to gain insight into the physical damage to the lungs of the patient which they damage by smoking. This test can be used to determine a throrough spirometrical examination, in which a diagnosis and the management of COPD can be specified.
Suitable for
- FEV1 testing programs
- Identifying the early signs of COPD in people over 35 or people with such symptoms
- Encourage sensitive smokers to stop smoking
Features
- Innovative device measures FEV1, which is taken as a measurement for detecting COPD
- Gives indication of lung age
- User-friendly
- Large grafic display
FEV1 Value and the predicted standard value
- FEV1 (Forced Expiratory Volume in the First Second of Expiration) is a well-documented value in lung function which is useful in detecting COPD
- By looking at the predicted standard value of the patient, the possibility and severity of COPD can be estimated
Lung Age
With the results of the blown FEV1 compared with the predicted standard lung age a good estimate of the current lung age can be given.
This lung age says something about the damage that the smoker has caused to his lungs. A 40 year old smoker, 1.75 meters tall, has a FEV1 of 3.4 liters.
This FEV1 value belongs normally to a person of 52 years, and thus gives an indication of the extent of damage to the lungs.
